The weekend is nearly upon us, which means many of Chicago’s dance professionals are gearing up for Dance for Life 2017 – a one-night only dance benefit concert at The Auditorium Theater. One company taking the stage this Saturday night is none other than Visceral Dance Chicago, who will close the series of company performances with Ruff Celts, choreographed by Marguerite Donlon. This performance is especially pertinent for Pupillo and the artists of Visceral Dance Chicago, as it serves as the kick off to their fifth anniversary season. Read on to learn more about Ruff Celts and Dance for Life 2017!
When asked about his piece, Pupillo said, “Ruff Celts has become an audience favorite of Visceral’s repertoire due to its high energy, athleticism and personality. Each of the dancers has contributed something of themselves to this work— their sense of humor, their personal favorite movement vocabulary, and their physical voices. Ruff Celts allows the audience to get a sense of who the dancers are on a more personal level due to the quirky, fun elements in the technically dynamic vocabulary. The attention to detail and the palpable energy make this a fantastic addition to the Dance for Life program, and we hope it will end the program on a strong, high note.”
